Protx does not provide merchant banking or merchant accounts. However, they work with all the major UK acquiring banks and can provide information and guidance on which merchant bank is best for your business. As a guide to how long it will be before you can begin accepting payments via your website, it takes 5 to 7 days after completing the online application form. You will need your merchant number to complete the application form, so you should set up your merchant account first.

Most major shopping cart providers are compatible with the Protx payment service provider gateway. The fees are as follows:

Protx provide a small business service that carries no setup fee, no annual fee and no transaction charges for a monthly fee of £20 including up to 1,000 transactions per quarter.

For businesses generating more than 1,000 transactions per quarter, the fees are simply 10p per transaction. There are no set up fees, or monthly fees.
